Comparative Performance of DVR and STATCOM for Voltage Regulation in Radial Microgrid with High Penetration of RES

In recent years, the penetration of renewable energy sources (RES) in microgrids and distribution system feeders has increased manifold. Moreover, advancement power electronics-based devices significantly number sensitive loads. Variations voltage under intermittent RES create functional problems with loads, necessitating regulators (VR) installation. this paper, two custom devices: dynamic restorer (DVR) static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), used for regulation a microgrid, are investigated different operating conditions. The efficacy DVR STATCOM an 11-node radial microgrid high is simulated MATLAB Simulink environment. Furthermore, profile results analyzed to evaluate both regulators.
